My client, a highly-regulated Financial Advisory company dedicated to providing quality and trusted advice to UK and EU expats, are looking for experienced Private Wealth Managers in Canada as we expand their global presence. You’ll join a team of advisers and will work remotely from their chosen geographical base.

Their Private Wealth Managers deliver high-quality and trusted advice to their high net worth clients and their families, providing holistic guidance in order to make the right financial decisions for their needs. In this role, you’ll work with a range of clients to design and implement asset allocation strategies and financial plans that fit their unique circumstances, and help them to achieve their objectives within their specific level of risk tolerance.

The role ideally suits experienced UK-qualified Financial Consultants, with prior experience of providing advisory services to UK / EU expatriates.

Applicants must be willing to work on a self-employed contract and on a commission-only basis.

Location:

The role will be based full-time in Canada, working remotely in the city of your residence but with the freedom to serve clients country-wide. You’ll play a key role in establishing a new, dynamic and passionate team, and expanding my client’s reach into the country’s Expat community.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Providing strategic advice across a variety of financial products and services;
  • Assessing their clients’ overall financial situation, understanding their needs and developing a solid financial plan that delivers their objectives;
  • Guiding clients towards profitable and secure financial decision-making;
  • Keeping abreast of new industry trends and researching the market to back up financial consulting;
  • Overseeing the delivery of the agreed financial plan, reviewing and updating it if and when necessary;
  • Ensuring all advice and actions comply with industry rules and regulations.


Key Duties

  • Proactively seek out and nurture new prospects, clients and professional intermediaries;
  • Respond to and follow up sales enquiries by telephone, email and personal visits;
  • Build profitable, long-term relationships with prospects and clients by understanding their financial needs and delivering appropriate solutions;
  • At all times provide ethical and quality advice following procedures set out in the advisers’ manual;
  • Ensure all sales and regulatory data is accurately recorded and presented in a timely manner;
  • Prepare client recommendations;
  • Provide regular portfolio performance updates and financial reviews for clients;
  • Participate in marketing activities such as golf days, exhibitions and seminars;
  • Liaise and attend meetings and other company functions necessary to perform duties and aid business and organisational development;
  • Attend training meetings and courses where required to develop relevant knowledge and skills.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Already living and working in Canada, or have residence to return and work there;
  • Ideally possessing Level 4 Diploma for Financial Advisers and/or 5 years’ experience of providing Financial Advice, ideally within the offshore Financial Market;
  • Other qualifications within the Finance, Pensions or Insurance industries will be considered;
  • Proven track-record as a Financial Consultant with relevant experience;
  • Fluent in spoken and written English;
  • Strong verbal and written communication, negotiation and presentation skills;
  • Ability to analyse quantitative financial data and to provide appropriate data-based advice;
  • Accuracy, attention to detail with strong organizational and multitasking abilities;
  • Solution-oriented and strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and simply;
  • Excellent IT skills and good awareness of the uses of Social Media;
  • Self-motivated and driven to succeed, with a passion for networking and acquiring new business
  • Willingness to take the initiative and demonstrate creative thinking;
  • Reliability and a strong work ethic.


Please note:
IFA’s must have a demonstrable track history having focused on lump sum investing, have high ethical standards, and have the ability to work remotely. This position would typically suit experienced UK CISI / CII level 4 qualified investment advisory candidates already living and working in Canada or advisors from other countries with suitable investment advisory qualifications living there already. This position is NOT for someone from the accounting / auditing or financial management profession. This is a client facing, sales and targets driven profession.
